Not to be an Apple fanboy or anything, but it’s hard not to feel smug whilst you’re one of the most conspicuous people in the whole shopping centre, carrying a boxed MacBook outta the Apple store, complete with Apple-branded cord bag containing my copy of iLife ‘08 and Leopard. Photo gallery coming up soon - apologies to those of you who’re getting bored of Leopard, Apple, lack of posting, etc. Things are hectic and slightly crazy. O_o

Bugs to report? Several minor ones encountered in my first 24-hours of being a Mac-user. The first being an error that happens occasionally on startup, where letters can ironically ONLY be typed with num-lock ON (should be off) and everything will be in capitals UNLESS you hit the caps-lock button and it lights up. On occasions like this, the Mac boots up with both lights on and it seems almost as if their functions have been reversed. Maybe Cupertino can look into this for me. Infinite Loop, I’m waiting.

Several days on I’m yet to encounter any more bugs and the CAPS/NUMLOCK one has only sprung back into action once or twice since then. Leopard installation on the other hand was a long, tiring process. First things first, the OS disc demanded it “check itself for consistency” or something whacky, presumably intended to prevent BSODs (which ironically still attacked me). This took a good hour. Then it was onto installation which took the full length of Jason Marshall from The Next Internet Millionaire and me talking to each other over Skype (about 70 minutes). I can’t tell you exactly what we got up to but some pretty interesting ideas were bounced around.

I’m really getting used to the typing on the MacBook now (something that bugged me initially seeing as all the keys were in the wrong places… HA!) but having to use Apple+C to copy instead of Ctrl+C amongst other minor things are still pulling at my hair. All in good time. A great exercise which helped me get the hang of my controls (ironically enough) was copying and pasting racial hatemail intended for Jermaine Griggs which was posted on associate of mine’s blog, into a Skype chat window of his and then laughing audibly so the perpetrator felt ashamed of themselves.

Wordpress has your name, your e-mail and your IP. Think before you comment… A few small notes for any newbies to Macs like myself.

- Ctrl+Alt+Apple+8 inverts the screen colour. Wickedly cool.

- Holding Ctrl whilst having two fingers on the trackpad lets you zoom in on any portion of the screen. Spiffy!

- Placing two fingers on the trackpad (again) and then clicking the button on the MacBook trackpad saves you having to hold Ctrl and then clicking, in order to do a simple right-click.

- And other random things you really didn’t want to know.
