Intel Core 2 ‘Racist’ Duo

A picture says one-thousands words, and unfortunately for Intel, in this case, nothing could be truer. On par with the other major advertising disgraces this year so far, Intel seems hell-bent on outdoing Sony’s public slaughtering of a goat, by creating an advert with a single gekky dork, wearing khaki pants, surrounded by 6 (bowing?) black athletes. Call me stupid, but that just might be racist. Companies are given the right to freely advertise in the knowledge they’ll play nice and not dirty. Intel - you broke the rules. Say sorry, apologize to the community, and send me a DiNovo Edge make sure this never happens again.
Or maybe controversial advertising is part of the world we live in. Either which way - Gizmodo writer Adam Frucci now WANTS a Core 2 processor. Explain the logic for me, please…

It leaves you to wonder if he was sold on the fine print at the bottom of the ad, or the racial undertone… The former would clearly be the legit politically correct motivator ^_-

Au contraire, it seems like the athletes are stronger better and more powerful than the geeky dork. They’re not exactly ‘bowing’ are they? More like getting ready for the start of a sprint (representing power and performance) With that in my, now who’d wanna be the geeky dork after all?
I mean if someone can tell me how exactly it is being racist?
July 31st, 2007 at 9:18 am
The more I look at it from your point of view, the more I start to think they look a like they’re not bowing, but positioned, ready to start printing.
What the hell - Gizmodo/Engadget thought it was racist.

Anyone who thinks this ad is racist, is a moron and needs to get a life.
The sprinters are not bowing, they are ready to sprint.
So what if all the sprinters are black? When was the last time a white person won the 100M sprint in the Olympics?
Black people are faster than white people at running over short distances. That’s a fact.
I would rather buy a processor claiming to be associated with black sprinters than white sprinters.
Shut up. Stop whining and get a life!

“moron and needs to get a life”
Moron? Define the logic in that… PLEASE! As for getting a life, I’ve got one hell of a kick-ass life, thanks.
“The sprinters are not bowing, they are ready to sprint.”
As I acknowledged was possible in the comment before the one you posted. Uh… Duh!?!
“So what if all the sprinters are black? When was the last time a white person won the 100M sprint in the Olympics?”
Why don’t you look that up for me - I’m kinda busy having a life.
“Black people are faster than white people at running over short distances. That’s a fact.”
Citations?
“I would rather buy a processor claiming to be associated with black sprinters than white sprinters.”
Now THAT my friends - is racist.
“Shut up. Stop whining and get a life!”
Mate - you just ranted for five minutes. YOU shut up (and stop repeating yourself), get a life and let me get on with mine.
Boy do I love these constructive comments. It’s incredibly ironic that on your AlanWho.com website, when you leave a comment, there’s the message…
“Please be polite and on topic.”
Self-contradicting fool.
All the best,

Last white guy to win an Olympic sprint was a loong time ago
And black people do run faster over sprints than white. Hence the above.

Fair ’nuff. Just pointing out though, that in my school there’s a black majority, and it was whites who came out on top for short distance races, and blacks on long distance.
Weird stuff…

Go figure! :p
July 31st, 2007 at 7:15 pm
Heh… Yeah. They really did kick white-ass at long races like the 800m though.

Put it this way, if the white guy was a black guy, and all the athelets where white, everyone would have turned a blind eye to this. Funny isn’t it? Racism will never end if we just keep saying that everything is racist.
July 31st, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Put it this way… Why did ALL the guys have to black, ready to sprint? Is that suggesting white people are slow? Asians are non existant? Blacks are supreme?
Whichever way you look at it - they should have gone for variation.

Well we’ve known that white men can’t jump for a while now, lol.
I do agree with Max though. If you can reverse things and it still gets unnoticed, then it’s probably safe.

[…] I think it is rather sad that we try to deem anything and everything racist even if it seems to contain a tiny bit of something like slavery from the past. As I mentioned on TechZi, how the hell are we ever going to stop racism, if we keep saying things that aren’t racist, are? When I see this poster, I see a man (presumably a boss of some sort) and some men ready to race, referencing to the high performance of Intel’s Multi core CPU’s. […]

I don’t thing they are bowing down.
I don’t think its racist. Like someone said in earlier comment, you will find racism in everything from a point, if you think more about racism.
August 3rd, 2007 at 9:53 pm
They look like they are ready to work, I don’t think it’s that racist although it could easily be interpreted as racist…
August 3rd, 2007 at 10:32 pm
There are so many angles it can be viewed from - I just picked to highlight a potentially article-worthy one. We’re short of news.

The mental suggestion that we are meant to conjure–namely, that black sprinters are necessarily associated with the abilty to rapidly process information, is indeed amusing. http://podblanc.com

LMAO! Nicely put.
