The ‘Google Life’

Google At Heart
Google. A verb. A noun. A revolution. For years - we’ve used Google more and more in our everyday lives. First, for finding and serving us what we want via means of search. It took it’s time, but Google is now gradually dominating e-mail too - with GMail and Google Apps Integrated Mail. iGoogle - the user customisable homepage. Google Calendar - the flexible online planner. Google Docs - Word processing online in style. Google Spreadsheets - One step futher than Excel. Google Video & YouTube - Online media domination. Google Maps - On the fly mapping 2.0. Picasa - Complete media management. Google Pages - Piczo just got owned. Google Glossary - Who needs books? Instantaneous results for those of us who struggle with our alphabet.
Google Partners
Firefox - Complete browsing domination. 80% of TechZi traffic now stems from users of the browser. Skype - Still using MSN? AIM? You’ve not experienced instant messaging… I daresay that we’ll see Joost (once out of Beta) join the list of Google partner products destined to rule the world.
Being A Googler
Productive. Creative. Laid-back. The results? See the above ‘Google At Heart’ section. Free food. Free medical care. Free haircuts. Random bouncy balls. Take your dog to work. Create a ‘chaos tower’. Have some fun. Make something big. Collapse of governments? Google ‘Infant hats’? What the heck. Like I said before - be creative. Think outside the box.
Ever wanted to meet some of the guys who work inside the Googleplex? Now’s your chance. Click play right above to set the fun in motion. If you ask me - the Google MV HQ looks not only fun to work at but has an incredible atmosphere.
Oprah sounds a tad jealous, no?
When I grow up? I want to work for Google. I love fun. I love work. I like the sound of uber-productiveness in a fun, clean, modern enviroment. I like the sound of free gourmet food. I like the sound of getting to work alongside some of the greatest minds in the industry. I’ve already started house-hunting in and around Mountain View. It’s an expensive area, but heck. I’d pay to work at Google.

Me and Joel over at TechRave collaborate Google Docs when we do our podcast. Handy.

I used in during my time at Profy.com for posting collaboration - that way we could see what each other were working on and fit our schedules around it.
I’m planning on setting up a new Zi mEdia dos area for use in the next few months.

Don’t we all? I had another video I wanted to share, too, but I can’t seem to find it.

hehehe “Free medical hair” and free hair cuts too…. kind of defeats the object doesn’t it?

*ahem* I must have had two things on my mind at once.
Thanks for that!

Lots of former Apple people are now working at Google. They still go to MacHack (R.I.P.), MacWorld, and WWDC.
May 18th, 2007 at 6:18 am
Totally - maybe I’ll get a job at Apple first, then?
May 18th, 2007 at 7:32 am
I’d like to work at Apple. Just Thinking.

It depends what as, I guess. Can’t say I fancy being a store clerk. Some ‘behind the scenes’ design job might be more suitable and leave you in a better position to be picked up by the likes of Google.

why not just skip the working bit…. build a web site/service that everyone wants…. google buys you out…. you get to work for google as part of the buyout deal

“Oi - Larry. I need to call in a favour…”
I guess Google could buy b5media/Gawker and merge it with lil’ ol’ Zi Media.
May 18th, 2007 at 11:33 am
I’m going to apply at the local Apple store for a job when I can legally work.
May 18th, 2007 at 11:36 am
I forgot. I’d work at Google under one condition: GOOBUNTU!!

From what I heard - that’s all part of the Googler package. You’re not forced to use it, but rather have the option. Nice, huh?
May 18th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
Point taken - it’d be great to have some one-on-one hands on experience with dealing at Apple. Then we can use Jedi Mind Tricks and become Google employees.

Yes! Now that is something I can work with. Ubuntu has to be one of the best OS’s out there!

I’m just awaiting the touch-screen OS X. Till then I’m happy with Vista, my current OS X, and like you say… Ubuntu.
It’s clean. It’s fast. It’s virus-free. Me likes.
As for the TechTwins site - I love it.
I too get MySpace spam, and BTW - your header logo links to Photobucket.com. LOL!
