Super-Site Review - Win a mascot at BloggingTips.com

Kevin Muldoon. Freaking genius scientist, mathematician, web-designer and as of now, ProBlogger. Kevin is a fellow Brit, from way up in mountainous Scotlands, he pumps out content on a regular basis for his BloggingTips.com blog, accompanied by it’s lovely little ‘BT Mascot’. Launched in March of this year, the blog is already on track to become one of the most popular blogs around. Just take a look at these Alexa statistics!

For the record (despite how much it might seem it), Super Kevin is not an entrepreneur, mogul, net wiz or guru, despite seemingly looking like one. Moving back to the blog itself, the layout is uber-clean and the 3-column layout makes a refreshing change, with a left-hand sidebar, a main middle content area and then a right-hand column. Funnily enough, the design much reminds me of the original mock-up TechZi design - before we ended up getting a pro on the job. Much as I like the idea behind Kevin’s layout - it just doesn’t quite work for me. Perhaps we’re all so used to glossy, shiny websites now, or maybe it’s the pink-yellow-blue-red-black-white design that’s turning me off. Either way, I’m sure Kevin will take the opportunity to use my criticsm in a constructive way. He should also probably note that the page renders horribly in IE6 - just thought I’d give a heads-up!
You can win a mascot at BloggingTips.com of your very own - just like Kevin’s spandex version of himself (see below). Personally, I think it’s pretty darn snazzy. What d’you think? Let’s face it any how. If you could win a mascot at BloggingTips.com, by writing a simple review like I have, would you really trust yourself to pass up the opportunity? Heck - even John Chow’s jumped on board! Kevin is taking his new ProBlogger-killer seriously, having already spent over $1,000 on advertising, and $1,250 on a domain name, it’s only a matter of time before we’ve got ourselves a Darren Rowse 2.0.

Kevin owns a host of web-related business, including bargain domain site 815Domains - the domain registrars who charge a convenient… $8.15! Of course - I’ve looked now at statistics, design, layout, background, Kevin, Kevin’s background, some more of Super Kevin and even Kevin in spandex, but the real question remains. What kind of quality is the blog? Want a one-worded answer? Wicked.
Kevin first contacted me back in April wanting to advertise on TechZi. We lost touch (darn Thunderbird
) and only recently did we resume talks. In the meantime though, Kevin’s become more than just an ‘advertiser’, but also a pretty cool friend. He loves travelling about and meeting new people and is currently holed up abroad, as a result of his travels. BloggingTips sports an impressive 208 blog subscribers and even now Kevin is out-of-town, is being regularly updated with fresh advice and content.
