Apple’s Core Values - This Week In Web 3
This Week In Web is written by Andrew Sommerich, and is a weekly column on TechZi, published each Friday.
5: The 411 On Google- 1800-GOOG-411
Google has launched their 1800 calling service- Goog411. This is the first Labs service in about 6 months. Good onya Google! It also has great speech recognition, as demonstrated by my Skype call.
4: Don’t Lie- KishKish Lie Detector for Skype
Now in your skype “Do More” section- the FREE KishKish Lie detector for Skype. For when you think your friend is lying. I tested it out on a friend, and it’s not very accurate- about 49% maybe. However it was totally worth the $0 I paid for it.
3: Is it worth the extra 20% ?- 128kbps Vs. 256kbps Audio
While Apple upload all that 256kbps EMI music to iTunes, we should all test our ears to see if the extra 20% increaese in price is worth paying. If it’s not the quality, it’s the lack of DRM that should be cool.
2:Time for a new computer?- BSOD Screensaver!
Sick of slow loading times and want your parents to buy you a new computer? Are people using your computer without your permission? Want to make your friends restart their computers for no reason? Try the Blue Screen Of Death Screen Saver! Ironically available from Microsoft as a free download.
1: Mmmmm… Octo-Corey - Mac Pro x2

Wow- The speed is AMAZING! The 8-Core Mac Pro is 8 Xeon Cores, and can take upto 16 GB of RAM! Apple’s long- awaited announcement was predicted to come at WWDC in June, so there’s no telling what they’ll announce in June (Leopard, iPhone, AppleTv 2).

Not Leopard… it’s delayed until October

I feel your pain… I’ve been holding off buying a Mac till Leopard, and now I have to wait even longer.
Anyhow - I’ve been using Kish Kish un-suspectingly on people for over a month now. I love it when clients are liars…
Or at least supposed liars.

I will have to try Kish Kish, been using Skype a lot lately for my podcast.

So I heard.
I also heard that Skype sucked for podcasts. But that said, I’ve already recorded the first PodZi. Just trying to find a decent plugin. Any suggestions?

Yup. Our very first co-hosted podcast. And I think it went very well!

Buy a Mac? What!!! Blasphemy! Who wants a blooming Mac? Everything is deliberately in the wrong place to simply annoy windows users: exit, minimise and maximise are on the left; Windows right-clicking involves pressing Ctrl and then clicking, while windows requires one simple click; ejecting a CD involves dragging it into the recycle bin; installing software requires downloading 3 files, dragging a few files over to a specific folder, then following the whole process of installing the software, while Windows requires a simple click on an exe file.
If I did buy a Mac, at least Windows would go on it straight away!

Unless you’re using Vista, in which case you have to set program properties to the exe, bypass Windows Firewall, etc, etc, yadayar.
I didn’t right this post though, so leave me outta it.

Hey, David. I don’t ever plan on purchasing a Mac really. I like a pc more. Nice post. Keep up the work. I kinda like Leapard though somehow. My friend has it. It’s the only kind I like.

If you had a small Author written by tag at the top of posts then there would be less confusion over whose written what!
April 14th, 2007 at 11:19 am
Yes, i agree. A standard writer tak would be nice.

Nonononono. Macs 4 life! I have had my 24″ iMac for 6 months now and it is everything I need! Running the intel apps now as they come out and it is all super fast. I installed windows Xp with boot camp and already it is crashing upon startup. LOL! Keep clicking those simple exe files…hopefully they aren’t viruses :p

I’m hoping within a year I’ll have enough to get myself a Mac in some shape or form. I’m thinking a MacBook though.

Hey Rick - sorry ’bout that! I just needed to approve the trackbacks as not spam.
They should automatically be flagged as safe now from that URL.
