Fire from water!

Dude... Are you seeing this? Weird design though.

A fireplace that can make fire, simply by adding water. Ingenious!

Aqueon fireplace by Heat & Glo actually uses regular water to create fire. Ordinary tap water (preferably distilled) is supplied to the fireplace through a pipe or tank, a 220 volt electrical service then separates the hydrogen and oxygen atoms through electrolysis, the Aqueon ignites the hydrogen, and ta-dah, fire! The oxygen is then added for color and brightness, while the rest is released into the room. It doesn’t require venting because it doesn’t produce any harmful emittents like carbon monoxide — just water vapor.

That’s what I call spiffy! Check out the product page, and see if it’s your kind of thing. Being green is great, and some aren’t willing to go out of their way to be it. What better a way than adapt an already popular household item by making it 100% environmentally friendly? Smart, if you ask me! Sourced from Gizmodo.

How much water does it use though?

As great as it is that it’s enviro-friendly from being pollutant free; it’s not really much good if it’s taking a large volume of drinkable water and making it go up in smoke…

However, it uses electricity, which is not that green…. ;-)
